Jenna Melnyk
Flip-flop, Beachcombing
Recycled packing materials (cardboard, foam, bubble wrap, paper), painters tape, PVA adhesive, acrylic paint.

Part of the Beachcombing collaborative series
Rebecca Soboti and Jenna Melnyk

As beachcombers, we know the thrill of looking down and wondering, What’s that? Together, we explore the unexpected treasures and oddities that turn up along the shore. Working with reclaimed materials and objects that might otherwise be discarded, we transformed the overlooked into something worth finding. Part nature, part found object, Beachcombing celebrates the strange, surprising little discoveries that make a day at the beach feel like summer.

Jenna Melnyk is a mixed media artist, (mostly) self-taught ceramicist,  and graduate of Parsons School of Design. Her work is inspired by contemporary graphic design and a love of all things wobbly and odd. Through hand cut shapes and muted colors, she seeks to explore the subjective nature of beauty. Outside of her art practice, Jenna regularly curates exhibitions around the city through Coyote Town. She serves on two boards: Youth Art Exchange and the Bernal Heights Business & Arts Association.
