Sasha Menshikova (they/them) is a graphic designer and artist creating colorful illustrations as a whimsical reflection of reality. They are visually and spiritually influenced by children’s artwork and ancient sculpture. For the past 4 years, when the weather turns warm, Sasha and their friends feel compelled to gather at bodies of water. They leave their lives behind to take day trips to the Russian river in Guerneville or camp farther north near rivers and lakes. Through their piece, Sasha invites people to join in these moments of queer freedom, when bodies and minds are full of joy and peace. These youthful moments are all the more precious because they are fleeting, reminding us to protect this brief time before it rushes away, like the river
